NEC Newsflash: This Week Sept. 25′ in Munich

🎓📊 A Week of Innovation & Insight at NEC

At New European College, no two weeks are ever the same—and this one proved just how dynamic business education can be.

From the cutting-edge halls of the IAA Mobility Expo, where our students explored the future of the automotive industry, to the high-level economic dialogue at the American German Business Club’s panel on financial markets after the U.S. elections, our week was packed with hands-on learning and real-world insight. And as if that wasn’t enough—we wrapped it all up with one of Munich’s most beloved traditions: the grand opening of the Oktoberfest.

In just a few days, our students journeyed from discussing global economic shifts to diving into Bavaria’s cultural heartbeat. Because at NEC, we believe the best business education happens when academic excellence meets real-world engagement—and a bit of fun along the way.

Here’s a look back at an unforgettable week filled with discovery & dialoque.

  2. IAA Project Week – China vs. Europe?

📊 Navigating Uncertainty:

Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences @ NEC Students Attend Panel on US Election Effects on Global Financial Markets

Munich, September, 2025 — Eight students and one professor from New European College had the opportunity to attend an insightful panel discussion hosted by the American-German Business Club (AGBC) in Munich.

The event, titled “The US Election Effects on Financial Markets,” brought together seasoned financial experts to discuss one of the most pressing economic questions of our time: How will the outcome of the 2024 U.S. election shape the global financial landscape?

The expert panel included leading voices from Bayerische Börse AG, Metzler/Payden, and Federated Hermes — all of whom provided valuable perspectives grounded in decades of experience across international markets.

📉 A Market on Edge — Yet Still Hopeful

“The market is currently facing significant uncertainty, the likes of which have not been seen in the past 20 years.”

This was one of the key takeaways from the event, underscoring the volatility driven by a fragmented political landscape and an unprecedented number of global crises, including geopolitical conflicts, inflationary pressures, and shifts in trade policy.

And yet — despite these challenges — the panel expressed a surprising degree of optimism about the future.

“Tariffs have an impact on investment markets, but not to the same extent as the discussion surrounding them,” one speaker noted, reminding the audience that market psychology often moves faster than fundamentals.

They further emphasized their belief in the continued independence of the U.S. Federal Reserve, even amidst political and economic headwinds. This reassurance was welcomed by the audience, particularly those concerned about the politicization of monetary policy.

🎓 Real-World Learning for Future Business Leaders

For our students, this event was more than a panel discussion — it was an extension of the classroom into the real world.

“Opportunities like this are essential for developing a deep and practical understanding of international business,” said the NEC professor accompanying the group.
“It shows students that understanding global finance requires not just academic knowledge, but real-world insight, dialogue, and adaptability.”

🤝 Thank You to AGBC Munich

We are grateful to the American-German Business Club Munich for organizing this impactful evening. Events like these are a vital part of our commitment at New European College to offering an education that is global, practical, and connected to the world beyond the classroom.

🚗 The Great EV Race:

Project Week at IAA Mobility 2025

Where Strategy Meets the Streets of Munich

This September, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences Bachelor, Master and MBA students at New European College stepped beyond the classroom and directly into the heart of Europe’s mobility revolution.

And then presented their findings.

🧠 The Challenge:

“The Great EV Race: Market Entry, Mobility & the German Dilemma”

As the global automotive industry undergoes massive transformation, this project week challenges students to critically examine the forces reshaping the mobility sector — from electric vehicles and battery supply chains to urban integration and strategic market entry.

📍 The Setting:

IAA Open Space – Munich’s Living Mobility Lab
The city of Munich becomes our extended campus as students explore firsthand how leading Chinese, German, and South Korean automotive players present their innovations to the public.

In a scavenger hunt-style field study, students document:

  • How companies present sustainability & innovation
  • The competitive edge (or lack thereof) of new market entrants
  • Real-world examples of brand positioning & public engagement

🧩 The Assignment Breakdown:

  • Analyze a Chinese EV brand’s market entry into Germany
  • Comparative Analysis: Evaluate German vs. Chinese EV positioning
  • Differentiation Focus: How can new brands compete beyond pricing
  • Critical Reflection: Can Germany maintain its leadership in global mobility?

🚀 Why It Matters:

As the lines between policy, technology, and global strategy blur, future business leaders must learn to think systemically, adapt rapidly, and engage ethically. This Project Week does just that — by bringing mobility, strategy, and competition into sharp focus in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive environments.
