NEC Newsflash: Beaming Bavaria into the Future24. October 2019
There is no greater joy for New European College’s faculty and administration than getting to know the newest members of our student community during Orientation Week. Months – if not years – of email communication, phone calls, support and preparing documents culminates in the opportunity to meet students face-to-face and finally welcome them to New European College and our beautiful home city of Munich.
October Orientation was particularly exciting as it marked the first intake since New European College entered into new academic partnership with Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences (WUAS). More than 40 students from almost ten nationalities arrived for the October 2019 Intake to pursue WUAS’ innovative and contemporary Bachelor, Master and MBA programs, as well as the preparatory programs that are now on offer at New European College.
Students arrived to campus for their first day of Orientation, greeted by a classic blue Bavarian sky and glowing autumn foliage. After meeting Chancellor Sascha Liebhardt and all members of the Academics, Admissions and Recruitment teams, students were introduced to New European College and life in Munich before setting out on an afternoon tour of downtown Munich’s historic Marienplatz. The day ended with a classic Bavarian meal of Wurst und Saurkraut (sausage and cabbage) and compelling conversation with Chancellor Liebhardt about Munich’s economy, today’s political climate and students’ expectations for their studies ahead.
Anticipating that our new students would have many questions, the following two days were spent on campus learning about New European College’s academic program structure, Germany’s student visa and insurance regulations and how to acclimate to life in Munich as a student of business. As Orientation came to a close, students set off for their first weekend in Munich feeling prepared to begin their studies at New European College and knowing that their peers – who began as strangers – would undoubtedly soon become friends.
